Unlike in general elections—where citizens of Kosovo living abroad could cast their ballots in diplomatic missions for the October 12 local elections, this option will no longer be available.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), all Kosovar citizens residing outside the country can only vote by mail in these upcoming elections for mayors and municipal assemblies.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi clarified that under the new regulation, the CEC will ensure that all Kosovo citizens who successfully register to vote from abroad will be sent the ballot and all necessary voting materials by mail.
This means the diaspora must first register to vote, and upon approval, they will receive the documents at their foreign address, complete them, and send them back by post within the set deadlines.
