At the end of the 20th century, the oppression and violence against the Albanian population of Kosovo were escalating.

The people could no longer tolerate this. As a result, groups consisting of dozens of Kosovars were going to Albania for military training, preparing to turn their weapons against the Serbian enemy.

Adem Jashari, a man from Drenica, led the second group of 34 individuals who were to be trained for a month in Dajti Mountain, near Tirana. They followed the first group that had been trained since October 1991.

Thus, between the fall and winter of 1991, the foundations of what would later be known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) began to take shape.

Due to the activities of his sons, the house of Shaban Jashari was placed under constant surveillance.

It was during these days that the first attack by Serbian forces occurred on this family. The situation was becoming more tense each day. Attacks on police and military patrols by the Serbian army in Drenica were increasing. Behind these attacks stood the group led by Adem Jashari.

This was followed by the second attack on January 22, 1998, which was organized at the Munitions Factory located just above the neighborhood, 300 meters away, and similarly, the third attack began from this factory on March 5, 1998.
