Dijana Hrka, mother of the young man who died in the collapse of a Novi Sad canopy, stated today that she will not abandon her fight and called for unity among all citizens, especially “neutral” citizens, students, and the “honorable” part of the opposition.

The opposition can join, but not with dirty tactics—only with fair play. What they did opening the gate at the Parliament was in their favor for the elections. Even the simplest person could see that. Let’s do something together, truly clean, not just for show,” Hrka told FoNet.

She added that she holds no personal grudges, but criticized certain actions of the opposition as poorly executed.

I like how Parandilović [Miloš, MP from Novo Lice Srbije] speaks, but I don’t think he has enough people or resources to achieve much. If he had a good team, I think he could accomplish a lot,” Hrka commented.

Hrka emphasized that future actions will not be publicly announced.

“We have meetings, we are organizing something. We will not just stay here. First, we need to unite to actually do something,” she said, referencing lessons from recent local elections in Mionica, Sečanj, and Negotin.

She criticized the passive stance of “neutral” citizens, noting that many remain in cafes while others protest, and warned about the consequences if conditions worsen.

Hrka stressed that her organization will continue independently: “They do their thing, we do ours. Let’s see who achieves more. They are failing in all areas. He can’t even win in Mionica, let alone bigger places, people already know what’s going on.”

Finally, Hrka said she will not disclose her future locations or meetings: “Everything will happen outside Belgrade. I am keeping all plans secret. I won’t let anyone ‘sabotage’ them,” she concluded, while her protest tent remains in front of the Serbian Parliament.
