A group of 28 French nationals who took part in the Global Sumud flotilla, which was intercepted by Israel last week while carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, will be deported tomorrow.

According to the French Foreign Ministry, the activists will depart at 4:00 PM for Athens, before continuing their journey to France.

“After a consular visit on Friday, a second one took place today, Sunday, at Kjiot prison. Our teams met with all our compatriots, who are in good condition,” said ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavre, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, the Italian newspaper La Stampa reported that 15 Italian activists from the flotilla are also expected to leave tomorrow on a charter flight via Athens, traveling together with 27 Greek members of the same mission.

On Sunday, 26 other activists who had been arrested by Israeli forces during Wednesday’s flotilla interception arrived back in Rome and Milan.

According to media reports, the 15 Italian activists being released tomorrow had initially refused to sign voluntary departure papers from Israeli territory. They were originally expected to face a court process before deportation, but that appears to have been avoided.
