Hydrometeorological Institute Warns of Possible Flooding in Kosovo

The Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo (IHMK) has issued a warning regarding the possibility of flooding in several regions of the country following heavy rainfall in recent days, reports Gazeta Sinjali.

According to IHMK’s announcement, the most at-risk areas currently are several settlements in the municipalities of Han i Elezit, Kaçanik, Dragash, Pejë, and Deçan, as well as some areas in the Morava e Binçës basin.

“Dear citizens, given the overall meteorological situation, especially in recent days, accompanied by rain showers that in some areas of the country have ranged from low to moderate intensity with relatively long durations, we have witnessed an increase in water levels in some rivers, especially those in mountainous regions. The situation is most critical in the Lepenc Basin, Morava e Binçës, Bistrica of Pejë, Bistrica of Prizren, and Bistrica of Deçan, where water levels are currently rising, which could lead to floods.

Currently, the most at-risk areas are the settlements of Han i Elezit, Kaçanik, Dragash, Pejë, Deçan, and the Morava e Binçës basin, among others.

This situation is further complicated by the rain showers expected to continue in the coming hours and days.
