Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, announced that the Ibër-Lepenci system has transformed into a profitable enterprise after seven years of losses. Rizvanolli made the statement on her Facebook page, sharing two graphics that illustrate both the profits since 2019 and the losses experienced in previous years.
“Ibër-Lepenci has become a profitable enterprise since 2022 and is expected to see even greater profits in 2024, after at least seven years of losses,” Rizvanolli wrote on Facebook.
The Ibër-Lepenci Canal, located in the north of Kosovo, was recently attacked on November 29 in the village of Varragë in the municipality of Zubin Potok, an area with a Serbian majority. According to Kosovo Police, the attack involved explosive materials weighing up to 20 kilograms.
The Ibër-Lepenci Canal plays a critical role in supplying water to the northern regions of Kosovo, including Mitrovica, Pristina and its surroundings, and the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) for cooling its power plants.
