The Basic Court in Pristina is set to hold a hearing at 10:00 today to review a plea agreement between Igor Popović and the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo.

Popović has admitted guilt for the criminal offense he is charged with, and the prosecution has submitted the plea deal to the court for evaluation. The decision to approve or reject the agreement will be made by the judicial panel in line with current legal provisions.

Popović, who serves as Deputy Director in the so-called Office for Kosovo within the Government of Serbia, was indicted by the Special Prosecution following his arrest by Kosovo Police last month.

His arrest stems from a speech delivered in Hoça e Madhe, Rahovec, where he allegedly used inflammatory language against the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and other ethnic communities in the country.

According to the indictment, on July 18, 2025, at around midday, during a public gathering in Rahovec, Popović stated that “Serbs have suffered here in the Rahovec region… and will not allow anyone to call them occupiers”, adding that “Hoça e Madhe and Rahovec must remain Serbian”.

The prosecution argues that such remarks incited distrust and intolerance between communities in Kosovo, threatening constitutional order and interethnic coexistence.
