Police in Kosovo have uncovered three separate cases of illegal weapons possession within a few hours in Prishtina, Skenderaj, and Gjakovë, seizing firearms and ammunition while detaining several individuals for further investigation.

The first incident occurred in Prishtina on Enver Zymberi Street around 15:50, when police stopped a person for a routine check. Officers found 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition in the individual’s bag. The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning, and a search of his home in Hajvali was conducted under the prosecutor’s order. No weapons or other illegal items were found. The case has been initiated for “Unauthorized possession or control of weapons,” and the suspect was released under standard procedural measures.

In Skenderaj, police carried out a search on Shaban Manxholli Street based on information gathered during a separate investigation. Two rounds of ammunition were recovered—one 7.62mm and one 8.6mm. The suspect was questioned in the presence of a defense lawyer, and the case continues under the legal framework for illegal weapon possession.

The most serious case occurred in the village of Duzhnje near Gjakovë, where police on patrol encountered two armed individuals. One was found with an AK-47 rifle with a magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62×39mm ammunition, while the other carried a Sig Sauer handgun with a magazine and 14 rounds of 9×19mm ammunition. Both suspects were arrested and the weapons seized. After questioning and consultation with the responsible prosecutor, the case was formally opened for “Unauthorized possession or control of weapons,” and both individuals were released under standard procedural measures.

Investigations into all three cases are ongoing.
