The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has announced that it continues to monitor audiovisual media service providers (OSHMA) during the election silence period. Through a public notice, IMC urged media outlets to adhere to their obligations during the electoral process, particularly the silence period, to avoid reporting that could violate the rules of election silence and potentially disrupt the voting process.

“Respecting the election silence is not only a legal obligation for OSHMA providers, but it also helps voters freely exercise their legal and constitutional right to vote. Therefore, any violation of the election silence by OSHMA providers during this critical election period could interfere with citizens’ will and their decision-making process in casting their votes,” the IMC stated.

The IMC’s call emphasizes the importance of ensuring that voters are not influenced by external information during the final hours before the election.
