The Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) has announced that its Toxicology Laboratory is currently out of service due to ongoing renovations affecting all internal areas of the facility, including laboratory spaces.

In a media statement released today, the institute clarified that once the renovation process concludes in September, the servicing and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments will be conducted to ensure that all toxicological analyses meet the required international standards.

“Given the highly sensitive nature of the equipment and the technical complexity of the gas systems used in the laboratory, relocating the devices to another space during the renovation was not feasible,” the statement read.

IML further explained that during the temporary shutdown, some samples—based on orders from the relevant prosecutors—have already been sent and will continue to be sent for toxicological analysis to regional and European laboratories.

The institute noted that this public clarification was issued in response to a high volume of inquiries received regarding the functionality of the toxicology lab, especially after reports earlier today confirmed that toxicology testing for the case of Agon Zejnullahu has been outsourced to laboratories in EU countries.
