Bora Novaković, Vice President of the People’s Party, shared on social media a screenshot alleging that Momčilo Sovilj, Deputy Chief of the Novi Sad Police Department, posted that “in 15 minutes, you can remove 100 Ustaše from the faculty in Novi Sad.”
Novaković criticized the police’s actions during the intervention against students and citizens, describing them as “crudeness and a lack not only of professionalism but also of common sense.” He added that such behavior by individual police officials is a way of “currying favor with the current government.”
“This is why lustration is needed — so that all perpetrators of violence, human rights violations, and illegal attacks or repression against students and citizens end up where they belong: out of office and in prison,” Novaković wrote.
The controversial post that prompted Novaković’s reaction allegedly mocked the rapid and violent removal of students from the Philosophy Faculty in Novi Sad, drawing widespread condemnation.
Novaković shared the screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that the conduct of the Deputy Chief of Police clearly demonstrates a disregard for professional standards.
