On the occasion of Christmas celebrations, the Bishop of Kosovo, Dodë Gjergji, hosted a solemn reception, attended among others by President Vjosa Osmani.
In his address, Bishop Gjergji emphasized that peace, love, and understanding are essential needs for every society in today’s world.
“Christmas is our shared celebration. Christ, the King of Peace, belongs to everyone. Every person and family, our country and every society in the world today, needs peace and love, understanding and joy in the heart more than ever,” said Bishop Gjergji.
He underlined that Christ represents light, not only illuminating the festive night, but also guiding human thought and the difficult realities societies and families face.
“Christ is the light that dispels darkness—not only the darkness of this holy night, but also the darkness of our thoughts and the events we live through. Let Christ be the light that shines in the heart of each person. Let us continue together in prayer on this sacred night for every individual and for all faiths,” he added.
President Vjosa Osmani, in her remarks, called for following the example of the great Albanian humanitarian Saint Mother Teresa, highlighting the importance of solidarity and compassion for those in need.
“Beyond the shimmering lights that symbolize hope, we must reflect on generosity, solidarity, and our unity as a nation and society. Christmas is an inspiration that reminds us that even in the face of challenges, hope must prevail,” Osmani said.
She stressed that care and empathy should extend beyond the holiday season, encouraging continued support throughout the coming year for those seeking help and human warmth.
