Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the EU Office in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, Deputy Mayor of South Mitrovica, Arian Tahiri, and Director of the Department of Operations at the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Petrit Ahmeti, participated in the inauguration of energy efficiency renovations in social housing buildings in Desi and Shipol, Mitrovica.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Kurti stated that the existing social housing buildings are being made livable, safe, warm in winter, and cool in summer, providing dignified living conditions for all residents. He emphasized that this marks an important step toward building a state that cares for its citizens, especially those in greatest need of support and assistance.

The building in Desi houses 24 families with a total of 116 residents, while Shipol accommodates 18 families. The Prime Minister highlighted that this project is part of a program supported by the European Union, implemented together with the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and local municipalities, aimed at renovating 28 social housing buildings across Kosovo and significantly improving the lives of hundreds of families.

As a result of these renovations, electricity consumption is substantially reduced, lowering costs for residents while improving living conditions.

“This is our shared policy: for the state to be close to its citizens through tangible projects that impact daily life, improving homes, schools, hospitals, and providing more dignity for everyone,” the Prime Minister declared during the visit.

He expressed gratitude for inter-institutional cooperation and specifically thanked the European Union for supporting the Republic of Kosovo in enhancing citizen well-being, particularly for those in need, who should benefit the most and consistently from these initiatives.
