The Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund today inaugurated the renovation of four multi-family social housing buildings in the Municipality of Pristina, as part of the project to implement energy efficiency measures.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that these works have benefited 200 families with a total of 790 residents, with an investment of €1.24 million, 90% of which was funded by the European Union.
“Today in Pristina, we are inaugurating the renovation of four social housing buildings. These homes serve 200 families, or 790 residents in total. After these renovations, residents will have warmer and safer winters this year. The total investment is €1.24 million, 90% from the EU. The renovation includes roof and wall insulation, replacement of doors and windows, as well as installation of new heating and safety systems. This project is part of a broader €6 million program for 28 social buildings in 13 municipalities, covering 889 families. In the upcoming government term, we plan to renovate 400 more buildings across Kosovo,” Kurti said.
Acting Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli emphasized that the four buildings in Pristina are part of a group of 28 across Kosovo, most of which will be completed before winter, except for some in Prizren that began later.
“The buildings inaugurated today in Pristina are four of the 28 across Kosovo. The vast majority, except those in Prizren that started later, will be finished before this winter. This is part of a larger €75 million package we have secured from the EU,” she said.
Alessandro Bianciardi from the EU Office in Kosovo highlighted that only for two social housing buildings in Pristina, around €650,000 was invested—90% from the EU and 10% from the Municipality of Pristina. The project included thermal insulation, energy-efficient windows, lighting systems, improvement of common areas, and replacement of the main entrance door.
“This project for the two social housing buildings in Pristina was financed through the EU’s energy support packages. The full renovation cost about €650,000, benefiting 100 socially vulnerable families. I’m pleased that the energy support package enables such significant investment for citizens while advancing Kosovo’s energy transition,” Bianciardi stated.
