India has purchased oil from Iran for the first time in several years, marking a significant development in global energy markets.

India’s Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that the country has also imported 44,000 tons of LPG from Iran, with the shipment currently being unloaded at the port of Mangalore.

This move comes after seven years of avoidance due to sanctions imposed by the United States.

The decision is also linked to rising tensions in the Middle East and their impact on energy supplies, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which has shaken global markets.
