The Special Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against S.C., who is suspected of committing the criminal offense of incitement to division and intolerance.

“The defendant S.C. is accused of deliberately and intentionally inciting hatred and intolerance between ethnic groups in the Republic of Kosovo on June 10, 2025, through his public actions during a religious event,” the Special Prosecutor’s Office stated, adding that the indictment has been submitted to the Basic Court in Pristina.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, S.C.’s actions contributed “to the disruption of public order and security in Kosovo.”

Authorities have not provided details regarding the specific actions for which S.C. is being charged. The Prosecutor’s Office has proposed that the court find him guilty.

Shtërpcë is one of ten municipalities in Kosovo with a Serbian majority. While the Serbian population in northern Kosovo largely boycotted the most recent population census, estimates by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics indicate that more than 27,000 Serbs were registered in six municipalities south of the Ibar River, including Shtërpcë.
