The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK) has filed an indictment against M.A. for involvement in the violent attack on May 29, 2023, in the municipality of Zvečan, during which dozens of members of KFOR and the Kosovo Police were injured.

According to the indictment submitted to the Basic Court in Pristina, M.A. is charged with four criminal offenses: “Assault on an official person,” “Participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense – hooliganism,” “Unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics,” and “Unauthorized possession of weapons.”

The incident occurred near the municipal building in Zvecan and escalated into serious violence. According to the prosecution, M.A., along with other defendants, used metal rods, Molotov cocktails, improvised explosive devices, and firearms to attack security forces, refusing to comply with KFOR’s orders for a peaceful dispersal of the crowd.

As a result, at least 30 KFOR soldiers and several Kosovo Police officers were injured. The attack also caused significant material damage, including destruction of police and media vehicles covering the protest.

During the investigation, firearms and narcotic substances were seized from the defendant. The prosecution has requested their legal confiscation and destruction.

The PSRK has also proposed that pre-trial detention be extended for M.A. until the conclusion of the judicial review, citing the serious nature of the offenses and the risk of reoffending.
