The Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica has announced that it will soon file indictments against Nemanja Vlashković and Urosh Vukashinović for their alleged involvement in attacks against journalists during the 2023 protests in northern Kosovo.

This development follows the recent conviction of Dalibor Spasić, who was fined €12,000 after pleading guilty to assaulting journalist Burim Zariqi.

“Investigations into N.V. have concluded, and an indictment will soon be filed. Meanwhile, the case against U.V. is nearing completion,” stated the prosecution.

Both suspects were arrested in June 2023 after journalists reporting in Albanian were attacked with kicks, stones, and explosive devices during the protests in Leposavić on June 16.

Defense lawyers for the suspects claim there is no evidence linking them to the attacks, while one suspect’s attorney, Predrag Milković, remains unavailable for comment.

The 2023 protests in northern Kosovo resulted in over 30 attacks on journalists, raising concerns about press freedom and security in the region.
