Disinformation spread through online media, fueled by Russian propaganda, has also penetrated Albania, said the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, during his report to the Commission against Disinformation, chaired by Socialist MP, Erion Braçe.

“90% of Russian propaganda and these campaigns are conducted in the Serbian language,” Hoxha emphasized.

However, he noted that Albania is one of the least affected countries by these campaigns.

“Recently, it is assessed that the Russian disinformation infrastructure in the region has been supplemented with portals in the Albanian language. These continue to have limited viewership and readership, with a small number of clicks… Albania, as a country interdependent on economic, regional, and global developments, and as a NATO member and EU candidate, considers the ability to prevent, counter, and respond to hybrid attacks as a top priority,” Hoxha stated.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining national order and security, social cohesion, and ensuring the continuity of all security services.

Hoxha also mentioned the cyberattack from Iran against Albania, underlining the role of international cooperation in mitigating the consequences.

“Immediate cooperation with international partners helped minimize the damage,” he concluded. /Geopost
