Border police at the Morina crossing point have arrested a 22-year-old Turkish national, Tahsin Yazici, who was wanted internationally by Turkish authorities. The arrest came as a result of increased checks aimed at preventing illegal activities and movements.
Yazici, a resident of Turkey, was detained as he attempted to enter Albania from Kosovo. Investigations confirmed that he was sought by Interpol Ankara after the First Instance Court in Gaziosmanpasa, Turkey, sentenced him to 4 years and 2 months in prison for the criminal offense of “Illegal Possession of Firearms.”
The arrest was carried out by Border Police services in cooperation with the Kukës Local Police Directorate. Interpol Tirana has initiated procedures for the young man’s extradition to Turkey.
