IQMT finds irregularities in electricity meters; fines against KEDS initiated after citizens’ complaints

The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (IQMT) has continued its campaign to verify electricity meters following a rise in consumer complaints, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT) announced.

The inspections were carried out in cooperation with an ad hoc commission of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, covering the Pristina and Ferizaj regions.

During the inspections, several cases of deviations in time and date on electricity meters were identified. The affected meters were removed from service and sent for further examination to the laboratories of the Kosovo Metrology Agency.

The official statement noted:

“During today’s action, IQMT, in cooperation with the Ad Hoc Commission of MINT, continued the verification of electricity meters for consumers who have submitted complaints. Several cases of deviations in time and date were identified. The meters where irregularities were found were removed and sent for further laboratory examination.”

Meanwhile, for meters with expired validity, two fine procedures have been initiated against KEDS, in accordance with current legislation.

The inspection campaign was carried out in Pristina and Ferizaj, while further checks are expected to expand nationwide based on operational plans and consumer complaints.
