Iran fired at least two ballistic missiles overnight toward the UK–US military base in Diego Garcia, according to the Mehr News Agency.
The news was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, which stated that neither missile struck the base. However, the move marks the first use by Iran of a medium-range ballistic missile since the start of the conflict, according to RKS News.
It is still unclear exactly when the incident occurred.
Yesterday, it was reported that UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer had given the United States approval to use the military base for “collective self-defense.”
The UK Ministry of Defence has not yet commented on these reports.
