Iran has stated that it relocated all its nuclear material to a secure location before Israel carried out airstrikes against the country’s nuclear facilities, reports Rks News.
Iranian commander Mohsen Rezaei said on Thursday that “Israel struck Natanz, Isfahan, Khandab, and Arak, but these sites had already been evacuated,” according to the Daily Mail.
He added that the key sites of Iran’s nuclear program were empty at the time of the attacks and the materials had been moved to an undisclosed safe location.
Israel has conducted airstrikes since last Friday targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in an effort to curb Tehran’s capability to develop nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, who initially threatened airstrikes “within days,” has decided not to get directly involved at the moment.
Reports suggest Trump demanded an “unconditional surrender” from Iran but has temporarily stepped back, while key European countries prepare to engage in peace negotiations.
