A senior Iranian official has sharply criticized proposals presented by European powers during the recent meeting in Geneva, labeling them “unrealistic” and unacceptable to Tehran.
According to the official, the demand for zero uranium enrichment – put forward by British Foreign Minister David Lammy as a starting point for negotiations – is a “dead end” that would not lead to a lasting solution.
“Insisting on unilateral stances will not bring Iran and Europe closer,” the official told Reuters, adding that Iran will not negotiate its defensive capabilities, including its missile program, emphasizing that the country’s security is non-negotiable.
Despite this strong rejection, the official stated that Iran would review the proposals and provide a response at the next meeting, expressing hope for an agreement that would de-escalate tensions and pave the way for a stable diplomatic resolution.
