During an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, requested by Iran following Israeli attacks, Iranian representative Amir-Saeid Iravani described the offensive as “barbaric and criminal.”
According to Iravani, the targets of the attack included nuclear facilities, civilian infrastructure, and populated areas.
Iranian authorities confirm that so far, 78 people have been killed and over 320 wounded, the vast majority of whom are civilians, including women and children.
Iravani called this a “shocking display of calculated aggression,” accusing the U.S. of being “complicit” by offering “aid and support” for these attacks.
Iran’s chief diplomat urged the Security Council to condemn Israel’s actions and hold accountable those he describes as perpetrators of deliberate aggression.
The situation on the ground remains unclear, as Iran continues to activate its air defense systems to counter further attacks.
