Iran’s Minister of Defense, Aziz Nasirzadeh, has issued a stark warning to the United States, stating that if nuclear negotiations collapse, Iran will strike American bases in the region.
“If nuclear negotiations fail and a conflict arises with the United States, Iran will hit American bases in the region,” Nasirzadeh said, as reported by Reuters.
This threatening declaration comes just days before the scheduled sixth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S.
Iranian lawmakers have also accused the U.S. and Israel of attempting to trap Iran in a “strategic snare” during the ongoing discussions. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Iran is preparing a “balanced, logical, and realistic” counter-proposal in response to the U.S. proposal received at the end of May.
