Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has announced that the country will move into a “new phase” in managing the Strait of Hormuz, according to a message broadcast by state media.

In his first statement since the announcement of the two-week ceasefire, Khamenei stressed that Iran remains determined to “seek revenge” for the killing of his father on the first day of the war, as well as for all those who lost their lives during the conflict.

“We will seek compensation for every damage caused, as well as the price of blood for the martyrs and compensation for those injured in this war,” the statement said, as reported by The Guardian.

He added that Tehran will demand full compensation for damages, including reparations for the families of victims and the wounded.

The warning about a “new phase” in managing the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for global oil transport—was not accompanied by further details.

Khamenei also called on supporters of the regime to take part in public protests, emphasizing that “voices raised in public squares influence the outcome of negotiations.”

He reiterated that Iran does not seek war, but will not give up its rights, and views all fronts of resistance as a single entity.
