The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has published an open letter addressed to the American public, stating that Iran has not initiated any war and does not pose a threat to regional security.

He argued that portraying his country as a threat is unfounded and linked to the political and economic interests of external powers.

Pezeshkian referred to Iran’s long and peaceful history, mentioning foreign interventions, including the 1953 Iranian coup d’état against Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, as well as support for the regime of Reza Shah Pahlavi. He also criticized U.S. involvement during the Iran-Iraq War and the sanctions that have impacted the lives of Iranian citizens.

Commenting on the current tensions involving the United States and Israel, Pezeshkian questioned: “Was there any objective threat from Iran that justified the American attacks?” He accused the United States of acting as a “representative of Israel,” pursuing illegitimate interests and placing the burden of war on both Iranian and American citizens.

According to the Iranian president, the ongoing military confrontations do not serve peace or security, but rather reinforce the military and political dominance of certain powers in the region. He concluded his message by challenging the narrative that Iran is a threat, presenting his country as a victim of foreign policy actions.
