Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has rejected U.S. claims that Iran’s naval capabilities have been destroyed, warning that any attempt to challenge Iran in the region would face a decisive response.

Speaking to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini said the Strait of Hormuz remains fully under Iranian control and warned that any aggression would be met with strong retaliation.

Naini also directly challenged statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has claimed that U.S. forces had destroyed Iran’s navy.

“Didn’t Trump say Iran’s navy has been destroyed? If that is the case, let him send his ships into the Persian Gulf if he dares,” Naini said in remarks cited by Al Jazeera.

According to the IRGC spokesperson, Iran has launched around 700 missiles and approximately 3,600 drones against what he described as “American and Zionist targets” since the start of the conflict. He also warned that even more powerful weapons remain unused and said Iran would continue its attacks until it believes its deterrence capability has been fully restored.

Earlier, President Trump stated that Iran is seeking a deal to end the war but said he is not prepared to accept it for now because the conditions are “not good enough.”

Trump also claimed that U.S. forces had “completely destroyed” Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export hub, adding that it could be targeted again “just for fun.” He has repeatedly asserted that Iran’s navy and maritime capabilities have been eliminated.
