Israel has deported 137 activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla, which attempted to break Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 4, 2025.
Among the deported activists are citizens from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Algeria, Mauritania, Malaysia, Bahrain, Morocco, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Turkey.
The Ministry reiterated that the flotilla’s true objective was a “provocation serving Hamas, not humanitarian aid.”
Israel stated it aims to accelerate the deportation of all provocateurs, though some intentionally obstructed the legal deportation process, preferring to remain in Israel.
Details of the Flotilla
The Global Sumud Flotilla consisted of 47 vessels carrying over 500 activists, according to the organizers.
Earlier, the Israeli Navy intercepted several vessels, detaining around 470 activists, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, before deporting them.
Israel emphasized that the flotilla’s actions were not genuine humanitarian efforts and framed the mission as a deliberate challenge to Israel’s security measures.
