Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Israel will press on with its military campaign against Iran until Tehran’s nuclear program is completely dismantled, despite mounting international pressure and growing regional tensions.
Speaking to reporters amid an emergency session of the UN Security Council in New York — convened by Iran following the U.S. airstrikes on key nuclear sites — Netanyahu declared:
“We will not allow ourselves to be dragged into a war of attrition, but we will also not abandon this vital campaign for our national security.”
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is “very close to achieving its strategic objectives,” including the destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and ballistic missile capabilities.
His remarks came just hours after U.S. fighter jets bombed three major Iranian nuclear sites, including the highly fortified underground facility at Fordow, marking the most direct U.S. military involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict to date.
“The Fordow complex has been heavily damaged,” Netanyahu said, adding that a full assessment of the damage will be conducted in the coming days.
In response, Iran has accused both the U.S. and Israel of unprovoked aggression and has vowed to exercise its right to self-defense, further escalating the already volatile situation.
Despite urgent international appeals for de-escalation and renewed diplomacy, Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to neutralizing what it sees as an existential threat.
