Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that Israel does not desire war with Lebanon amid ongoing intense developments between the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Israel. Today, a barrage of rockets was launched from Lebanon towards Israeli territory as retaliation for the explosion of Hezbollah communication equipment.
Herzog told SkyNews that Israel “does not want war” with Lebanon, claiming that the conflict is “provoked” by Iranian representatives in the region, including Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen, and Hamas in Gaza. “Israel is fighting for its wellbeing, its existence, and its citizens. This is what we are doing, and we are doing everything necessary to achieve that,” he said, adding that Lebanon has been taken over by Hezbollah, which he described as a “terrorist organization.”
“It is armed to the teeth by the Iranian empire of evil,” he stated, emphasizing that Israel seeks to return Israeli hostages from Gaza and bring its citizens “back to their homes on the border with Lebanon.”
