Israel is moving forward with preparations for a large-scale offensive to seize control of Gaza City, as tensions rise both on the battlefield and in international diplomacy.
According to official data, Israeli authorities have mobilized approximately 60,000 reservists, pending approval from Defense Minister Israel Katz. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that soldiers will receive deployment orders at least two weeks before reporting for duty.
However, not all reservists will take part in the planned Gaza City invasion. Some will be reassigned to replace permanent troops stationed on other fronts.
Netanyahu vs. Macron Over Palestine Recognition
Amid military mobilization, a sharp diplomatic confrontation erupted between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron, following Macron’s warning that France could soon recognize the State of Palestine.
In a letter addressed to Macron, Netanyahu strongly criticized the French stance:
“Your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on the fire of antisemitism. This is not diplomacy—it is appeasement. It rewards Hamas terror, strengthens Hamas’ refusal to release hostages, encourages threats against French Jews, and fuels the hatred that already floods your streets,” Netanyahu wrote.
The Élysée Palace responded immediately, rejecting Netanyahu’s accusations:
“It is unworthy to link antisemitism with the recognition of Palestine. The claim that France’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine in September explains the rise of antisemitic violence in France is false, baseless, and will not go unanswered,” the presidential office declared.
