The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that another coffin containing the remains of a deceased hostage has been returned from Gaza to Israeli territory.

The coffin was handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and subsequently transferred to Israel for further identification procedures.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the IDF urged the public to “act with sensitivity and await official identification, which will first be communicated to the families.”

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also released a public message calling on citizens to “refrain from spreading rumors or unofficial information,” out of respect for the hostage families and the ongoing forensic process.

According to BBC reports, this is the tenth coffin containing human remains of a hostage returned by Hamas this week. So far, nine of the 28 hostages believed to have died while held in Gaza have been returned.

The latest coffin will be officially confirmed as the tenth once autopsy results and DNA tests match one of the missing persons.
