Israel has announced that Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas’ armed wing, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza, according to reports by BBC and Gazeta Express.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency for what he called a “perfect execution” in a post on X, without specifying the exact time or location of the operation.

Earlier, the IDF stated that its aircraft targeted “a key terrorist” in the Al-Rimal neighborhood on Saturday, fueling media reports that Obeida was the target.

Hamas has not yet confirmed Obeida’s death. The Palestinian armed group previously reported that dozens of civilians were killed or injured in Israeli airstrikes on a residential building in the same neighborhood.
