Israel has escalated its airstrikes against Syria, including its capital Damascus, stating that it is intervening to support the minority Druze community, which is embroiled in armed conflict with other Syrian groups.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz published a video showing a direct strike on a building in Damascus that occurred during a live television broadcast. A journalist can be seen rapidly evacuating the studio after the building is hit.

Katz issued a stern warning following the airstrikes in Damascus and southern Syria. “Warnings in Damascus have ended – now painful blows will come,” Katz wrote.

He affirmed that Israeli forces will continue to act with force in the Suweida area, where Israel recently intervened due to clashes between the minority Druze community and other armed Syrian groups.

Addressing the Druze community in Israel, Katz declared that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will protect the Druze population in Syria. “Prime Minister Netanyahu and I, as Minister of Defense, have made a commitment – and we will keep it,” he added.
