The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Israel carried out overnight airstrikes in southern Lebanon, targeting what it described as Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure.
“During the night, the IDF struck and dismantled a Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli military stated.
“The site contained engineering equipment used by Hezbollah to restore terrorist infrastructure in violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon.”
According to Lebanese media, citing the country’s Ministry of Health, the Israeli strike in the al-Msayleh area left one person dead and seven others injured, reports the BBC, as relayed by Gazeta Express.
Hezbollah began launching rocket attacks into northern Israel a day after Hamas-led assaults on October 7, claiming its actions were in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The prolonged conflict intensified into a major Israeli air campaign across Lebanon, followed by a ground invasion of southern Lebanon. A ceasefire came into effect in November 2024.
Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians have begun returning to northern Gaza, spending their first night back since the ceasefire agreement took effect on Friday.
