Israel will not participate in the upcoming UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon announced.

In a letter addressed to the Security Council, Danon confirmed that the Israeli delegation will boycott the session, which coincides with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

Despite Israel’s request to postpone the discussion — originally pushed by Algeria, Guyana, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Somalia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly — the agenda remained unchanged.

“It is regrettable that the Council is meeting without Israel,” Danon said, emphasizing his country’s dissatisfaction with the timing of the debate.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address the UN General Assembly on Friday, where the Gaza conflict is set to remain at the center of global attention.
