Israel has made a direct appeal to China, urging it to use its influence to halt Iran’s military and nuclear ambitions. According to Bloomberg, on Tuesday, Israeli Consul General in Shanghai, Ravit Baer, stated that only China has the real leverage to impact the Iranian regime.
“China is the only one that can influence Iran,” said Baer.
“Iran would collapse if China stops buying its oil,” she added.
Her statements come at a time when Iran continues to advance its nuclear program, despite mounting international pressure.
Meanwhile, China and Russia have remained supportive of Tehran during international negotiations. In March, both countries called for dialogue with Iran based on ‘mutual respect’ and demanded the lifting of all sanctions, according to The Jerusalem Post.
