Israeli airstrikes in eastern Lebanon have killed at least eight members of the militant group Hezbollah, including local commanders, according to Hezbollah officials speaking anonymously. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the total death toll has reached 10, though it did not distinguish between militants and civilians.

The strikes targeted areas near the village of Rayak, in northeastern Lebanon, late Friday. An Associated Press team visiting the site on Saturday morning observed that the top floor of a three-story building had been completely destroyed.

The Israel Defense Forces said that the airstrikes eliminated members of Hezbollah’s rocket units across three separate command centers in the Baalbek region. According to the Israeli military, those killed were involved in accelerating preparations and strengthening Hezbollah’s capabilities, allegedly planning attacks against Israel.

Hezbollah officials identified three of the slain local commanders as Ali al-Moussawi, Mohammed al-Moussawi, and Hussein Yaghi.
