The Israeli military has issued a warning of an upcoming strike in a key area of Gaza City that houses the central offices of the United Nations (UN), a hospital, and two major universities.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced plans for an offensive in western Gaza City, targeting a zone that includes the UN headquarters, Al-Aqsa University, the Islamic University, and the Red Crescent Hospital.

Adraee called on Palestinians in the area to evacuate and move south within the Gaza Strip.

According to the United Nations, 90% of Gaza’s roughly 2.3 million residents have already been displaced at least once since the beginning of the war due to ongoing Israeli military operations.

The airstrikes resumed on March 18, following a temporary ceasefire that ended on January 19, further escalating the already dire humanitarian situation in the besieged territory.
