Israeli President Isaac Herzog said it was “important and right” to target Hamas leadership, later condemning Khalil al-Hayya – Hamas’s chief negotiator and Gaza leader in exile – without confirming whether he was a direct target of the strike.
In a post on X, Herzog stressed that al-Hayya “has the blood of thousands on his hands, one of the architects of the October 7 massacre, just like many of his colleagues,” Rks News reported.
According to BBC reports, a senior Israeli official told Israeli media that al-Hayya was among those targeted in the strike, as well as Zaher Jabarin, Hamas’s leader in exile for the West Bank.
It is still unknown who was injured or whether there are casualties from the attacks.
