Israel conducted airstrikes in southern Lebanon overnight, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Saturday.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the attack in the al-Msayleh area left one person dead and seven injured.
“During the night, the IDF targeted and dismantled Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The site contained engineering equipment used by Hezbollah to restore terrorist infrastructure, in violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon,” the Israeli army stated.
Following the strike, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned Israel for its actions.
“Once again, southern Lebanon has been the target of a hateful Israeli aggression against civilian installations, without justification or pretext. The seriousness of this latest strike lies in the fact that it comes after the Gaza ceasefire agreement,” Aoun said.
Reports indicate that Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel a day after Hamas-led attacks on October 7, claiming to act in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The escalating conflict led to a major Israeli air campaign across Lebanon and a ground incursion into southern Lebanon. A ceasefire was implemented in November 2024.
