A 38-year-old Italian citizen, G.L., was arrested by the Albanian State Police after attempting to smuggle a stolen vehicle into Albania, which had been reported stolen in Italy one month ago. The vehicle has been seized by authorities, reports Gazeta Sinjali.
The arrest occurred during enhanced border checks, verifications, and interviews at entry and exit points. The Durres Port Border Police identified and stopped the Italian citizen, confirming that the vehicle had been stolen on July 25, 2025, in Italy.
“Procedural materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Durres for the criminal offense of ‘Trafficking of Motor Vehicles’,” the Albanian Police statement added.
