Rome, June 2 – Italian President Sergio Mattarella has described the situation of the Palestinian population as “inhumane” and has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Rks News reports.
Mattarella stressed the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into the region and urged the Israeli military to grant access to international organizations operating in Gaza.
“It is inhumane to die from hunger—especially children and the elderly,” Mattarella declared, expressing his support for the pressure European countries are putting on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.
