President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has commemorated the Izbica massacre on its 27th anniversary, honoring the victims and calling for justice.
In her message, she recalled the crime committed 27 years ago, when, according to her, 147 innocent civilians were brutally killed by Serbian forces.
“Twenty-seven years ago, 147 innocent civilians were brutally killed by genocidal forces of Serbia, including a six-month-old baby, Dafina Qelaj. A life that had just begun was extinguished barbarically, along with many others, inside their homes, simply because they were Albanian,” Osmani stated.
She emphasized that the Izbica massacre remains a testament to the pain and the cost of freedom, but also a memory that must never fade.
“Izbica is not only a testimony of suffering and the price of freedom. It is also a reminder that must not fade and a call for justice not to be delayed. The crimes of Serbia, committed with the intent of exterminating our people, must face justice. Remembering the fallen is an obligation, while justice for them remains a duty. May the memory of the martyrs and fallen be eternal,” Osmani said.
