During an official visit to Canada, the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK), Bashkim Jashari, held a bilateral meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces, Jennie Carignan.

According to an FSK statement, Jashari expressed his gratitude to his Canadian counterpart, acknowledging Canada’s continuous support from NATO’s intervention in Kosovo to the present day. He also briefed her on the situation in Kosovo and the region, emphasizing the FSK’s developments and achievements. Discussions included the FSK’s contributions to training Ukrainian groups and Kosovo’s strategic goals for NATO integration in the future.

“Subsequently, the two Chiefs of Defence engaged in a detailed discussion on areas of mutual interest for bilateral cooperation. They discussed finalizing reciprocal cooperation in several key areas, including cadet exchanges, military education, specialized training, joint exercises, and collective operations,” the FSK statement read.

According to the FSK, Jashari and Carignan stressed that Ukraine’s victory in its fight for freedom against Russian aggression is a collective duty and responsibility for all democratic nations. They agreed that this war also has inevitable repercussions for the region, underscoring the importance of unity and international support.

“A particular point of discussion was the significance of reaching an agreement for cadet exchanges between the FSK’s University Studies Center and Canada’s Royal Military College Saint-Jean. This exchange was recognized as a significant step toward professional development and strengthening ties between the two countries. At the end of the meeting, both generals agreed to deepen cooperation further and identify concrete areas for bilateral activities of mutual interest.”
