U.S. Vice President JD Vance held a press conference where he commented on recent developments in Ukraine, warning that the United States should reconsider its involvement if Russia does not show willingness to negotiate, Rks News reports.
“If Russia is not willing to engage, then ultimately, the U.S. must say this is not our war,” Vance stated, emphasizing the need for a more realistic approach to the diplomatic deadlock.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin who is expected to hold a phone conversation with Donald Trump within the next 40 minutes “doesn’t seem to know” how to exit the conflict.
“We understand there is a bit of a deadlock here,” he told reporters, shortly before departing Italy after a meeting with Pope Leon.
“And I think the President will tell President Putin: ‘Listen, are you serious? Are you genuine about this?’” Vance added, suggesting an effort to push forward a peace process.
