U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that Washington remains open to engaging Iran through diplomacy, but stressed that progress in negotiations will depend on Tehran acting in “good faith.”

Speaking before boarding Air Force Two ahead of planned talks in Islamabad, Vance said the United States is prepared to “extend an open hand” toward Iran, signaling willingness for constructive dialogue. However, he warned that any attempt to manipulate the process would be met with a firm response from Washington.

According to Vance, Donald Trump has provided clear guidance for the negotiations, which are expected to begin Saturday in Pakistan. The U.S. delegation will also include special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner.

Authorities in Islamabad are still awaiting the arrival of the Iranian delegation, according to correspondents on the ground. The talks are seen as a significant diplomatic step between the two countries amid ongoing regional tensions.
