U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed gratitude following the new agreement that enabled the release of 20 hostages and paved the way toward peace in the Middle East.
“I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come for the 20 remaining hostages who have endured unimaginable suffering and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have endured immeasurable loss and now have the chance to rebuild their lives,” Biden stated.
He emphasized that the road to this agreement was not easy, underlining the continued efforts of his administration to bring the hostages home, ensure humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians, and help end the war.
“I appreciate President Trump and his team for their work in finalizing the new ceasefire agreement,” Biden added.
In conclusion, he said that with the support of the United States and the international community, the Middle East is entering a new era of peace and hope:
“Now, with the support of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path toward peace — one that I hope will last and toward a future for Israelis and Palestinians marked by equal measures of peace, dignity, and security.”
